Just finished my wifes toy
Finished my wifes car about a month ago. We picked the car up as a shell and started working on it last winter. Its a 1991 GT with a 308, F cam, Circle R ported TFS heads, Vortech S Trim, T5, 3.73 gear, Old School Accel Gen 6 DFI. It Made 446HP@6200 / 428TQ@5100 at ASSC racing. I did everything except dyno this car in my 2.5 car attached garage. (Paint, motor, suspension, brakes, upholstery, everything). I drove it to the track and it ran 12.15@121 hot off the highway in street trim( Nittos(shittos), BBK lowering springs, Konis, all swaybars intact), my wife ran 12.32@122 immediately following my pass. I am pretty pleased with how the car turned out. Its relatively docile, handles great, is comfortable, and can be driven anywhere. It even gets decent gas mileage when you drive it like a human.

Thanks. If it wouls hook at all it would probably be respectable, but with the suspension and Nitto DRs its pretty much a smoke em at will deal. It is fun to buzz around on the street though and in the twisties. You can pretty much get this car crossed up whenever you want. Its a sleeper til you start it up and hear the loud ass S trim.

Sweet car!! I really like a stock appearing Fox Body GT...I've got a 91 GT Convertible that I bought in 94. I'm still in love with it after all these years

Yeah I like it a lot. Its been a long time since I built a car specifically for street duty. I missed having a car I could just get in and turn the key and go have fun. Dont get me wrong I love the race car, but having something that makes a little power and can be driven anywhere is fun.

Car runs good just curious were those Horsepower and Torque numbers at the crank or rear wheels?
Thanks Mark.

That's what i thought very good rear wheel numbers for a daily driver.

Its not a daily driver, its a summer cruiser, but we will take it on weekend trips. I was pretty happy with the numbers considering how simple and off the shelf it was. Boost goes a long way.

Just switched to an Aeromotive Stealth 340lph in tank(was running out of fuel with the 255 Walbro), had the windows tinted and did the final tuning and Dyno last nite. 457HP@6100 - 429TQ@5000. 15 degrees of timing at 11 lbs of boost, 11.2 A/F WOT so its REAL safe. I could throw the 2.95 pulley on it, and give it a couple degrees more timing and probably pick up another 70-80hp, but the stock block is probably thankful Im not gonna. Its a cruiser anyway.
Re: Just finished my wifes toy
It may have a high 10 second MPH, but with these tires and suspension I would be happy with high 11s.nuclearcobra wrote:Sweet and 10 second mph as well and yes its a blast having a fun street toy it had been over three years since i got my 76 cobra 2 tagged again and i finaly did last summer and its a riot to drive on the street
Re: Just finished my wifes toy
Nice car and I'm sure the wife is happy. That is a really safe tune, you could probably run 20 degrees timing and still be safe depending on the compression ratio.Barney wrote:Just switched to an Aeromotive Stealth 340lph in tank(was running out of fuel with the 255 Walbro), had the windows tinted and did the final tuning and Dyno last nite. 457HP@6100 - 429TQ@5000. 15 degrees of timing at 11 lbs of boost, 11.2 A/F WOT so its REAL safe. Re: Just finished my wifes toy
Its not a drag car. Lowering springs, Koni shocks and struts, swaybars, and Nitto DRs arent a recipe for low ETs. Maybe I will throw a slick on it once and see what it runs. I would guess low 11s are possible.
