header ?....
would there be any difference going to an upswept truck pull header on a drag car as apposed to a regular drag header with same primary sizes and collector sizes?

Well I run uprights on my pulling truck. Other then making sure you cover them when not in use to keep unwanted things from falling in them. They say it cost 10 h.p. to push the exhaust up verse down and back. But hey if you got 1000 h.p. to play with what's 10 h.p. right .
Other little thing you have to watch for is working on the engine with them hot. I have a few burns from them even though I have them ceramic coated they still get hot.
But you for sure won't have any frame clearance problems if you go up.

Dan I hear you on the burn marks on the arm. I have a nasty scar from last year. I would think on a drag car that upswept headers would be counterproductive. They will obstruct view and make it harder to make adjustments on the carb and any valve lash adjustments. The upside to pull style headers are they don't leave heat down in the engine compartment and you don't have to have a pile of spaghetti to clear obstacles. If it's a tube style chassis there are some nice clean header styles out there that are pretty nice.

Who says it costs 10 hp to make the hot gasses go up?
If you could pump that much heat into a hot air balloon without melting the bag it would climb like a fighter jet!
