RPM INTERNATIONAL CRANKS AND RODS ???
Has any used or have any experience with any of their products ? specifiaclly rotating assemblies.
The price seems real good, but that is also a reason for concern.
Thanks ahead of time for any info you have

Re: RPM INTERNATIONAL CRANKS AND RODS ???
I've been using them for 165 years.
You usually have to run HX bearings, and the parts don't break.
If you're expecting to see a Crower billet for Chinese money, you'll be disappointed. Having said that, they are very serviceable parts.

As Mark said ... you get what you pay for; no more and no less.

Re: RPM INTERNATIONAL CRANKS AND RODS ???
we've had a customer with a small block deal running in the 1400hp range for a while with an RPM crank
not saying it is recommended but I wouldn't worry about a 1000hp big block at all.

Re: RPM INTERNATIONAL CRANKS AND RODS ???
IMO typicaly the forgings are good (for the price), just need to watch the finish and tolerances. Assume you will need to spend some extra $$$ refinishing and sizing it (at least check the taper and roundness and probably Cut .010 ), if it comes in good you'll be ahead of the game. keep in mind alot of this stuff is "Quickly mass produced, by Chinese workers who don't have a clue and are only doing what they are told for a few $$ a day"
Watch balancing on some of these too, it may cost a little extra in some cases.
And like Mark has said don't expect Crower Quality.........

ive used the same RPM crank in both builds (the 521 and the new 562 ), if i had to guess a lot of abuse with trying to get the nos tunes right
now i did have to spend some extra $$$$ on the machining to get the crank to fit the block (a460 block)

I was speaking with a Chinese manufacturer about tolerances..and this is what we told me.
"We could consistently produce a much better part....but Americans won't pay for it."
Guess they DO have us figured out.....

and there you have it.... but the ones who do it right, pay for it to be made right. The ones who dont pay for it to be made right, do it twice.

Re: RPM INTERNATIONAL CRANKS AND RODS ???
The first think I look at with import cranks is the fillet radius. If it looks like it was done with a rat tail file, I don't even waste my time measuring it. The ONLY import manufacturer that I see consistently better than others in that area is Scat. RPM and Eagle both, I've sent back on too many occasions to even bother with any more.

Re: RPM INTERNATIONAL CRANKS AND RODS ???
I have a very close friend who does business in China, and he's constantly fighting this. They'll send him a first article or prototype that's just perfect, but the first production run is scrap. The Chinese mfgr just kind of shruggs their shoulder and says "sorry...we try again harder".

I laughed out loud at that for some reason.
RPM crank & rods here. They must be semi-decent, they have survived my engine assembling skills and screw-ups.... 3 times!

Re: RPM INTERNATIONAL CRANKS AND RODS ???
No one will have to worry about it shortly anyways.
The Chinese government is pushing a consumer economy so they don't have to worry about the economic health of their customers as much. So they're removing support from this sector. They can't get as much power...and Chinese wages are rising rapidly....along with energy shortages (rolling blackout are now the norm).
Supply is already a problem, lead times are up to 9 months.....so we'll likely be back to $3,000.00+ cranks in not time.
We'll see how the industry fares when most of the customer base just gives up. The big players are already looking outside China.
Like my Irish forebears said; "Be careful what you ask for, you just may get it".
