What tire?
Going to buy new ones and I'm undecided which ones.
My car currently has MT 33X10.5W, but they are about gone. Unknown # of passes and they are at least 2 yrs old since the car was not run for 9+ months when I bought it. They heads up guys replace these from 10-40 passes. They worked ok when I had the wrong converter and it was not hitting them hard. Got a new converter that is VERY aggressive. That, combined with a junk track last night I only made one halfway clean pass out of 3 attempts. It was spinning bad. Last pass it blew them off on the hit.
Possible choices:
MT 33X10.5W 14.5 section width, 11.2 tread, 32.9 dia, 103 rollout 33 lbs M5 medium compound
new would prob work well, but for how long? Also, since I'm not required to use them, they is really not much reason to limit myself to a 10.5W except I don't want to go too big and slow down because of it.
MT 33X15 18.1 section, 14.8 tread, 33.6 dia, 105 rollout 37 lbs M5 compound
got a spare set of these with the car, but they are over 3 yrs old and dry, so I won't use them and would buy new. They fit, but not much room to spare. Don't like that they are heaviest tire of the bunch.
Hoosier 32X14 17.7 section, 14.0 tread, 32.2 dia, 102 rollout 34 lbs. D05 compound
these look good as far as fit, but I'm not wild about the D05 soft compound. Last set I had 7-8 yrs ago would get greasy on a really hot track. Would outlast the MT10.5W I'm sure.
Hoosier 33X15 18.7 section, 15.0 tread, 33.0 dia, 104 rollout, 36 lbs D05 compound.
I like the dia and rollout, but they might not fit w/o rubbing with the 18.7 section width.
Hoosier 33X10.5W 15.6 section, 11.5 tread, 33.0 dia, 104 rollout, 34 lbs, C11 compound
Don't know how long they would last. Like the dia and rollout. Compound is pretty hard compared to the rest of Hoosier.

Re: What tire?
David, you might want to consider using one of the M/T's with a stiff sidewall with the power you have and an aggressive hit.

I'm pretty sure all of the W's are stiff sidewall.

Re: What tire?
Thanks guys,
I ordered a set today.
Hoosier #18260 32X14.5W stiff sidewall
18.4 section width, 32.6 diameter, 102.5 rollout, 15.0 tread, 37 lbs D05 compound
I took one wheel today and had the 33X10.5W removed and one of the old 33X15 MT mounted to test fit and see how much room I had.
The MT is 18.1 section width and I had about 1/2" clearance with the wheel well lip in one spot. The 33X15 Hoosier would have been too close with it's 18.7 section. I think the 18.4 on the ones I ordered is the biggest I can use with my current wheels. I can trim the lip a little if needed in that spot.
Measured my wheels with the tire off. 15X14 with 5" backspacing. I have plenty of room on the inside (6" or so) I hope to buy some new wheels next year and will get some with 6" or 6.5" backspacing and then I can put a 33X16-16 or larger under it.

Re: What tire?
W or not my turd likes a stiffwall tire, I like the Hoosiers I have on it right now, but have also had good luck with the 10.5W m/t stuff as well.

The car is not there yet. Motor is, but been fighting converter issues.
First 9.5" converter was way too tight. I need about 6K flash. It went 5150. Took it out, drove it over to them and they cut it open, changed the stator said it would work. Still too tight. Went 5400. Called them. They said bring it back and they would build me a new one and swap it out. Did that. New one (9") was way too loose. Stalled almost 6500. GREAT customer service. They just missed it. It happens. Took it back it out. Sold it to Dave Freelander. Should work great behind his smaller A head gas carb motor.
Bought a new 9" from another company. Stall is close, a little loose, but the tractor fluid is going in to tighten it up a couple hundred. But, It is VERY aggressive. Hit's the tires HARD. Track was bad, but it just blew the old 33X10.5's off it. The tires had worked ok with the other converters due to a softer hit. Only went a 1.21 60' with the other (the too loose one). This converter should give 60's in the 1.15 range when I get it to hook. So far the best ET has been only a 5.40, but the mph is right at 130 even in 90°+ heat w 65+% humidity. With the 130 trap speed it will be a solid 5.2X player when I get some tires on it and get the suspension adjusted. Might have to use the Digital 7 to pull a little launch timing when the track sucked like it did Sat night.
Re: What tire?
You need one of them Toyota metric core units, one should not have to fight a converter set up so bad.
