Testing an Idea for the Bash
I have thought about this idea for a while, and would like to toss it out for your input.
How about an action camera rental for racers at the track?
I have 4 total cameras, one GoPro and 3 ATC3K Oregon Scientific units.
You have all seen GoPro videos posted by others on the forum, so I won't bore you with samples of mine. Of course the GoPro does great work and has good audio. I have been keeping it inside the car to make it last a little longer.
I typically use the ATC3K for under car work. I have had them on my rear suspension, front suspension and a few other things. It is a normal field of view, unlike the wide angle lens of the GoPro, takes great quality video and is self contained and waterproof. It likes working under the car. The following link is a video that I did under the '58 last year, as I was sorting out the new shocks. It is interesting to look at all of the aspects of how the tire gets killed when the brake releases. I was able to use this information to make several changes to help my combination out. Since it is sealed, the audio is not very good.

What if I were to offer a "rental service" for these little gadgets at the Bash? Lets say....about $30 for a pass for a camera or $40 for 2 passes??? This would include mounting and dealing with the camera and downloading the video file to my laptop and burning a DVD with the raw video.
Not everyone needs to buy these things and have them sit around most of the time. It might make more sense to rent them during test-and-tune.
If the interest is great enough, I might buy another GoPro....
Please call or PM me or e-mail me if you are interested. If this a bad idea, you can tell me that too!
I will collect the input for a couple of days to decide if it will be something worth taking on.
Thank you,
Keith Fulp

Re: Testing an Idea for the Bash
sounds like a great idea... but as usual are people willing to spend money on something that doesnt shine and sparkly...kinda like a dyno session. anyway good luck and I personally think its a great opportunity and tool for those willing to pay, and use it to their advantage.
oh and badass video...

Count me in for a 2-fer deal too. Since I put the new shocks on earlier this year, I've yet to solicit the use of someones camera so I can see just exactly is happening for myself.....I think it is a great idea.
