Any block can be sleeved for about a hundred bucks plus the sleeve, versus buying a new one is no contest.

Yes you can sleeve the cylinder, just make sure to sonic the rest and double check.

"We" have the FRPP sonic sheet.....he knows where he is.
Re: blemish a460 block
Is your 4.500" bore used up? If so, then why not just bore to 4.53" for now?
In regards to your concerns about overboring your paticular block past the recommended oversize:
We purchased a pallet of 4 of those blocks and as time goes on the more I study the sonic check sheets of that shipment, the less I've come to be concerned about why Ford set the blocks aside. The blem blocks we have may not be 100% perfect by Ford's conservative and strict criteria, but a wall thickness that is a measely 0.016" below Ford's minimum spec (in our blocks) sure as hell ain't gonna kill any engine I'll use them for....even if I bore to 4.600" or more...most certainly not with all the rest of the overkill structural integrity built into the cylinder banks of these A-blocks, wow.

In regards to your concerns about overboring your paticular block past the recommended oversize:
- What's the minimum wall thickness at 4.500" and what's the exact location of that thickness?
- How much hp are you targeting and at what peak rpm?
- Will the engine be naturally aspirated?

Re: blemish a460 block
No edditional machine work, its just the do not meet the ford spec for wall thickness / core shift, whick is pretty strict like paul has said.

Re: blemish a460 block
when i first bought this block i wasnt planning on going bigger
the class i pull in has a 530 cid rule so this block was fine for what i needed
but as most of you know already know more power can be addicting
and i am thinking about jumping to our next class
it has a 630 cid rule and i was thinking if i jump up to that class
what can i use that i already have?
another possiblity is selling my lower end and building a new one
but this block has all the machine work done and just had bigger lifters
installed incase i decide to go bigger with cam and springs ect
i am gonna shoot for close to 1200hp
might go alky or keep it gas
this might be kinda hard to do with my current A heads but i will be running
ron's or enderlie if i go alky or just get another 1250 qft and run 2 on gas
i am gonna start this build slow with on piece at a time
see what i need for a crank
hopefully reuse my 6.800 oliver rods
new set of pistons
i do have a sonic sheet and lem has a copy also
this block only has 1 cly that wont bore past 4.550
and i had a sleave put in it already we bored it to fit a 4.550 piston
when i was gonna run a set of basterd pro stock heads and rlized the pistons would not work for those heads
since there were 4 differnt set of basted heads? thats a whole nother story lol
so i went back to my tfs A heads and my old pistons

Re: blemish a460 block
Jesse I hope you are not using the same guy that built your last one cuz he is a putz if he couldn' get your deck any closer than he did where some pistons are out of the hole and some are down the holes..... you have 8 different compressions in that engine....

Re: blemish a460 block
nope i wouldnt take a lawn mower to him
got the deck straightned out took it to a good machine shop
the only bad thing is it put all my pistons out of the hoile but atleast
there all the same and a thicked head gasket was used
