THERE'S ANOTHER STOTT HEADED TO ADRL
Written by Bobby Bennett Friday, 05 August 2011 15:00
There’s another one of those Stott boys headed to the ADRL.
The Stott Boys, the fast-driving, slow-talking, southern drawl-possessing brothers from the southern part of western North Carolina will introduce their next generation of fast doorslammer-driving kin.
Dylan Stott, cousin to the Pro Modified championship-winning brothers Quain and Mitch, will make his Top Sportsman debut next weekend at the ADRL U.S. Drags in Richmond, Va.
“I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am,” said Stott, 18, of Tryon, NC. “I eventually have my sights set on moving up in Pro Modified but for now, I am content putting in laps and getting a full education on learning how to race and win. You always dream to be at the top of the racing food chain, but I believe when you get there you ought to be able to compete because of experience.”
Robbie Stott, Dylan’s father and team manager, believes the ADRL’s inclusion of the Top Sportsman division provides a great opportunity for the series to cultivate the next line of drivers.
“Obviously our goal is to move toward a Pro Nitrous or Pro Extreme program, but for now, we are content to put in our time here,” Robbie said.
When the time arrives, could there be an alliance between Dylan and Quain? “Quite possibly,” admits Robbie.
“Quain has a lot on his plate right now but don’t think he isn’t already involved at this point. He already helps us tremendously.”
Stott had originally planned to race in Martin, Mich., but due to business demands related to the family’s Stott Ford dealership, the debut was pushed back to Virginia. According to Robbie, Dylan is pre-entered for the upcoming events in Rockingham [NC], Norwalk [Ohio] and Dallas [Texas].
Dylan Stott represents the third generation of the family currently involved in drag racing. His grandfather Harold Stott, is a former drag racer and most recently worked various duties on the NASCAR series. Uncle Larry Stott is a Super Stock racer whose daughter Emily currently races Stock and Super Stock.
“I just want to do my part to uphold the family tradition of winning,” said Stott.
Stott will race in Virginia with support from Mickey Thompson, Fulton Competition Race Engines and Moroso Performance.
“I especially need to thank the employees at Stott Ford who cover for us while we are out chasing this dream,” said Robbie.
