Re: weekend project ????
Nick, I would definitely remove the fuel cell and plug the line! I just guessing on the tube thickness for the 8.8, but it is probably around 3/16". Be careful about to much heat in one area or you could warp the axle really bad. Make short welds that have good penetration, then move over to the other side of the axle while that one cools down. Just keep alternating from side to side with short beads.
Re: weekend project ????
Might be easier to tack them in the car and then drop the housing out and do the finish weld away from the car.
X2 or 3 on warping the tubes.

If they are unsprung it dont need a whole lot, a ladder bar deal under power they are gonna gain clearance anyway lol.
How much room do you have now? How much between the ground and the wheels?

i didnt measure it but if i had to guess the wheels are 6" off the ground and 6" off the top bar to the bottom of the bumper ......ive got to notch out the brackets to fit on the back side of the ladder bar deal , the width of the wheelie bars dont allow the brackets to sit on the axles ......

Re: weekend project ????
I'd move um up 3-4" and leave some room for adjustment with the heim ends either way.

SO THERE WILL BE ABOUT 2-3" FROM THE BUMPER ........ so another thing about these bars which might hurt me is that they are double walled , which i heard i designed for higher horsepower cars/weight

Re: weekend project ????
Not sure what "double walled" means. They look to be 1.125" tubing. The top tubes will not move "upwards" much so they can be close to the bumper. I would mock them up at ride height will weight in the car, about 6" from the ground to the center of the wheel. Put your heim joints about 6-8 full turns out from being all the way in, and go from there. Good luck!

Re: weekend project ????
looks good. I didn't realize you still had an 8.8. 8.8's and ladder bars are usually a no-no so keep and eye on those axle tubes.

Nick
Is it just an optical illusion from the camera or is that track locator bent? Looks like it has a bow in it in both pics...
