I made some changes over the winter and was suprised.I have ran one toilet, two toilets, and a buzzard catcher all on alky with virtually no difference in et on my a460 headed engine. So I would say I have a pretty good baseline on alky. The best my truck ran on alky was 5.50 in good weather and average was 5.55.I switched to a borrowed 1050 gas dominator and went 5.45 this spring.Better 60' ,et, and mph.Seemed like it was going to be just as consistent. Now according to everybody a 1050 should be way to small for a 572, but it worked quite well for me.I now have an 1150 so we will see how that goes.My truck would burn a little over 1 gal a pass on alky, now I went 6 passes on around 2.5 gal.I was running just strait alky vs 110.I our area alky is around $2.15 a gal vs 110 is $5.65,so in my case gas is cheaper, if you throw in the oil changes. Now I have nothing against running either, but in my case gas was faster.I know my engine isn't a all out build, I shift it around 7000 to 7200, and I think it is a good representation of a typical bracket engine. We will see how gas does in the heat of the summer at the bash. The thing that I like about gas is how good it starts at any temp, and the fact that the oil looks the same coming out as it did going in.Just my two cents.
