600" Aluminum Motor w/ Mechanical Injection
Hey all,
We've been meaning to post a build thread for awhile now, and am now getting around to doing so. This motor ran absolutely flawlessly for us for 2 seasons, around 150 passes. It has served us well and we could not be more happy with the setup. Parts include:
* Aluminum 10.3 Block
* Charlie Evans C-460 Aluminum Heads w/ all the best valvetrain pieces
* Billet Crank
* GRP Aluminum Rods
* JE Pistons w/ Slight Pop-up
* Bullet Cam (around .870")
* Danny Bee Belt Drive
* MSD Crank Trigger Setup
* Kinsler Mechanical Injection Setup w/ Mechanical Pump
* Complete Moroso Dry Sump System w/ Jeff Johnston 2-piece pan
We ran the motor in Top Sportsman, in a '57 Fairlane. It is a full tube chassis(4-link/struts), with a Reid cased Powerglide, and 4.30 rear gear. Race weight being 2450 lbs. the car ran consistent 7.67-7.75 everywhere we went(depending on altitude). We jumped into this setup with absolutely no knowledge of fuel injection and learned as we went along. Never hurt anything, no burned up plugs or anything else. Equipped with an O2 sensor, we would sometimes change the pill on the return line going to the tank, but other than that would never touch anything else.
Also, for those who assume it would be hard to start...absolutely not the case. On the initial warm up of the day we would squirt a small amount of fuel down the stacks. For the rest of the day, it would start on its own with no help and would idle at 1000 RPM all day. The injection setup also proved to be very responsive with no hesitation(something alot of people told us it would have). From an idle to 5500-5800(depending on set launch RPM) with zero issues.
BEST E.T. and MPH: 7.67 @ 179 MPH
This motor is now sitting in the shop as we were lucky enough to come across a good deal on a 820" Hemi motor. Here are some pictures:

Very cool stuff there. I talked to Kinsler about injection this week, and if that is the stack injection set up they were talking about, it's not for the budget racer for sure. They quoted me $7500. It is top of the line stuff for sure, and an instance of "you get what you pay for". Very nice looking car, and definately a hard running combo.

Guys, Kyle Curley and Bob Curley are a couple of California racers that I've been awfully proud of for the past few years. They are representing us big block Ford racers very well!

You picked one of the best in the country to do the heads, Uncle Charlie sure knows his way around the C heads for sure. Maybe he could twist your arms a little to come out to KY if he gets a Tech Seminar going this winter.

We've joked around that going out to KY would be crazy fun...people around here are not as hard core as other areas of the country! LOL
Re: 600" Aluminum Motor w/ Mechanical Injection
You certainly won't find a nicer bunch of people to hang out with, that is for sure. I've been out that way a few times, and had a blast every time.
