help with a 429 block from a 72 tbird
This 429 that im getting is out of a 72 tbird and i was wondering how far in the hole the pistons were stock and what my cr would be with d0ve heads. The more i think about it the more i think i should get a set of forged pistons and gapless top rings to push the compression up to a respectable level. Im trying to keep the cost down on this but refuse to sacrifice reliability.

The OEM 1972 engines had the pistons about .036"-.040" in the hole at TDC. Compresion will increase ~1.25 points in your case, depending on which pistons are in your engine.
