"What the Hell ?"

I saw this post on another forum and was in shock. I cannot believe a pair of cast valve covers in the $600 range. I am not sure what they are made with, real silve maybe ?

ya thats 428 covers ,not 429,

Ford Racing has a nice looking set of polished FE vovers for $180ish..... But the are not the correct ones for that application.

Kit Cobra guys get weird about stuff sometimes.... Seem like alot of them are all about the Bling and telling there buddy's how much they paid for something.. So it must be better than the ones on their buddies car.....

That is insane ! The guy posting them was making it sound like a deal, they all must be off there rockers.

You can charge whatever the hell you want as long as there is some idiot that is willing to pay what you are asking; "a fool and his money will soon be parted". I shit you not I seen cars on C-list that were advertised for months for $1200-1400 become $4000+ cars at tax time and there were people fighting to get it for $4000.

I honestly think this mentallity is part of the problem with this country's economy, I have noticed though that hagling is coming back moreso.

Think about this Is a pu truck worth $65K? No. But there are Also Fools out there that will buy them. Most of the time ,it's the same crowd that has too have a $10k paint job on their race car etc. There's a fool born every minute

i'd give 10k for a paint job faster than i would 65k for any truck.lol............sure as hell would'nt give $600 for valve covers! hell i aint gona give $400+ for the moroso's to cover my SHAFT rockers!

20 years ago when I worked for a big auto parts chain, all of our belts were 3.99. People wouldn't buy them because they thought they were "cheap". They raised the prices and charged more for longer belts, and they started selling like crazy.

There's even a company out there who makes expensive adapters to put FE covers on a small block Ford for the Cobra Kit Car crowd.

While it is crazy it is probably realistic. Think about the time, energy and cost to make molds and cast valve covers for a very small customer base. It is simple economics. I have a set of pent roof valve covers for a Windsor and they were not cheap compared to a standard VC but they were half what those are costing.

JMO,but those are the best looking valve covers ever too cover a set of rockers. simply mauvelous I say

I am not perfect Lem lol! You know how sometimes you see something that you can't help but comment on? And yes I am a moderator over there please don't flame me anyone I know some have ill feelings about that site over here.

No flamin here,I still frequent that site quite often,and I see quite a few others from here over there also

Things have calmed down quite a bit over there, I am not bias either way I like both sites.
