Timing Chain TOO TIGHT?
Guy's I'm tearing down this 555 cubic inch motor to freshen everything and for the love of god I can't get this lower timing chain gear to even move. Further more this fricking thing has zero play and is one of the most tightest chains I have ever encountered for even being used. I tried to do a google search from the numbers on this thing and came up with nothing. They are SRS3530 A HD. Dam Just never in my life have I had some thing this tight. Guess I better slap the degree wheel on this and see where the cam is installed ( I have no idea whats in the thing as well) before I go cutting the dam chain.

Well ,if there's any good thing here, at least it's the bottom gear too tight and not the balancer! You can get the crank out and get it off alot easier than a balancer!

You shouldn't have to cut it... Tap the cam back with a drift and work the top gear off.

SRS3530 A HD. is on the top gear. looks also that the chain was rubbing on the top gear and maybe the source of metal on the magnets through out the motor.

like Dave said , drive the cam to the rear . easy way is block vertical on some 2x4's , with thinner wood under cam .

Re: Timing Chain TOO TIGHT?
I finally got it apart but with the help of 2 large pry bars. Really didn't like doing it that way but had no choice. I also didn't know for sure what cams in the car so I will put it back in and put the timing chain back in to degree it and see where it really at. I wil be replacing the set up no matter what and I know all chains are not the same.
