Help with new build? Empty Help with new build?

Well,.......

I went and done it now,...... Embarassed

Just took a deposit on my trusty 557,......SO, it looks like the Ol' Copper truck is going to be w/o and engine soon,......at least for a little while. Neutral

Got my eye on a nice 598 from a freind,.......but I don't know if I want to go that route or not? What I'd really like to do is build one new from the ground up. The only draw-back is the amount of $$ it takes to do that.

I would like to have something similar to what I had,......a low maintainence deal,....just with more powa. Laughing

A few things are going to be a given,........
Ford Racing A460 Block (4.50" bore or larger)
Trick Flow A460 Heads
Scat 4340 crank w/ 4.5" stroke
Scat H-beam Rods (w/ bolt upgrade)
Wet Sump w/ Kaase Pump

My previous combo put down roughly 850hp/775tq w/ a 557cu in 10.8 to 1, small cam and unported A-460's with an old style FMS/TFS intake (unported as well)

I'd like to gain somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 on both aspects (both hp & tq) and still keep it a relatively low maintainence deal. MAYBE, just maybe set it up to handle a little N2O as well. Wink

Is this a pipe dream,........or is it doable on (somewhat) of a budget?

Any (good) input will be appreciated.

With ported heads 1,000 + HP is very doable. 588"-598" with good comp ratio.

I wouldn't think it would be low maintenance though.

Just out of curiosity what is your idea of low maintenance?

I wouldn't think it would be low maintenance though.

RPM would be the maintenance factor, which would be the owner/operator's option.
An example would be a 598" A460 engine I was involved with back in april of this year...1,003 HP @ 6,300 RPM...1,033 HP 6,800 thru 7,100 RPM. It's all 1,000 + HP. I.m.o. it's all about how a guy would gear it and where he'd shift it.

I'm still tossing things around on my new build and I got to thinking about E-85 fuel. Has anyone ever put together a 572 or larger that has broke into the 4-digit hp range on ,..................Corn? Laughing
