Fuel Delivery?
Alright, moving along on getting the ol stang ready for the 557. Oil pan - Check. Converter sent to Lenny - Check. Header fab set up - Check. Now to the fuel system. According to the math 840hp x .50bsfc = 440 pounds per hour divided by 6 lbs per gallon = 73 gallons per hour of fuel required to feed this thing. I know a BG280 is only "rated" to 650hp and the 280gph is at free flow but surely this thing flows more than 75 gph after the regulator? It just seems to me a BG400, ProStar 500, etc would be over kill. What do you guys think? With the BG280 assume plumbed correctly, -10 to the pump, -8 to the regulator.

overkill is not a bad thing with a fuel pump....... the Magnafuel 500 is a damn fine pump and you'll have plenty of room to grow with it.

I wouldn't use a BG anything if he gave me the whole friggen place...... I use a aeromotive 1000 and four port return regulatorwith # 10 to and from the pump and #8 to the carb, used 2 holley 110 (blue) with no bypasses in pumps total flow of 330 worked for years

Being that I already have a holley blue on the car, don't think I haven't already considered adding a second . BG no longer has the whole friggen place, the bank took it. From what I hear, Holley bought the rights to the product line. The reason I am considering BG products is because a member here has a pump for sale and I have connections with former employees for repairs/parts.

side by side 2 # 8 going into the pumps and 2 #8 coming out and going into #10 to the front and back,#8 to carbs, worked for 10 years or more

IMO get a prostar 500, if you go bigger later your set. The 500 has a filter built in so that eliminates that also.
