BBF torque ratings with Procharger
I am planning with my friend a blown 521-572 cid engine. Our goal is to achieve with Procharger F2 a 1200 hp with low boost. How much can I expect a torque to grow from app. 700hp/700lb ft N/A engine after given a F2 with boost around 7-9 psi. Blowthrough carb is to be used without intercooler and max ported SCJs or P51s are on the list, Victor Jr intake, mechanical roller etc.
--------
edit
compression ratio will be around 9.00-9.50 and will be using pump gas.

Unless you get custom pistons you will be 10 to 10:5 to 1 on the compression.

Custom pistons aren't an issue. Dish close to Grand Canyon is expected. Everything is dependind from the stroke & bore after they are decided. For example +38cc dish compared to 4.300" stroke and 4.440" bore, piston 0.020" down the hole and we're close to 9.5:1 with 73 cc heads. I am more interested from the torque increase or does it acts like a hp figure - 500 hp N/A, with 15psi of boost you'll double the hp figure?

as far as HP is concerned yes, add a atmosphere = X2 is a good rule of thumb, I'm not positive is the rule applies to torque as well.

I would think to say on the 700ft lbs you should grow to 850 to 900lbs. The HP will definatly be way up there. I havent seen to many big blocks but a lot of small blocks run a little more TQ but the horse power is unreal with rpm's.

From few other sources I have read & heart the same figures, modest one from was 800 lb ft ending up to 900+ lb ft.Tennessee Bullitt wrote:I would think to say on the 700ft lbs you should grow to 850 to 900lbs.

I honestly would say 1000+ on the torque

Thanks from the input. +1000 lb ft with 7-9 psi of boost or with the 15 psi?whatbumper wrote:I honestly would say 1000+ on the torque

I say that for a few reasons: yes it is low boost but it is boost, but you will be lowering the rpm of max horsepower with the blower which in turn will raise the torque from idle up.

Sorry to wake the ol' topic, but for the poweradder that the build changed direction, I would have wanted to see how it would have worked out with blowthrough and F2.

What direction did you go? I would think 1000-1100lbs should be reasonable, heck, my 347 F1R combo made 800 ft lbs so I would think my new 548 A headed motor with my F-3 should make that.

Even though its Generic Motors stuff, I've know of a couple 540-580" setups, one with an older F2 and a "safe" tune up. Making something like 1200# almost everywhere RPM wise on 20psi peak boost, crested 1200 around 5000rpm and 11psi. E85 no intercooler

Re: BBF torque ratings with Procharger
Actually I stayed with n/a engine and was going to upgrade the mechanical roller and with Dominator. But the time goes by and now there are F-1A, intercooler and blow through carb collecting dust. Will convert my fuel pump for E85 and give a shot. Gonna stay with 6-8 psi of boost. This project will start in nex autumn, so plenty of time to change plans... No, actually now once I got a good deal from the kit I will install it as planned and see how the boost feels with the bigblock. Car will be adjusted at the wheel dyno 10 miles from my house, so when it's done I'll let you see the dyno graph.
