DEF question 6.7 Empty DEF question 6.7

Post  John Myrick December 24th 2011, 6:33 pm

Had the DEF low warning message come on when starting the truck...1/2 empty I know. Went to dealer and bought a 1 gallon jug ( all they had ) and poured it in..no problem. Started the truck and the warning still came up with the same mileage left till empty. I looked in the owners manual and didn't see anything to reset the warning message.

Shouldn't the mileage automatically update till empty or is there a reset ?

Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas,
John

you got 3 levels, full, 1/2, and empty. The 1 gall may not have been enough to get it to the full mark.

I'm just wondering why the mileage didn't change when the 1 gallon was added. When you start it the warning message states a certain mileage before the DEF is empty. After adding the 1 gallon of cow piss, the warning message still had the same mileage till empty showing.

Thanks

I don't guess I have the answer, honestly I dont have to mess with um much, our lube rack always tops the tanks off when performing an oil change. There may be a reset in the information center on the dash, I know there are resets for the oil change and fluid coolant additive (which there isnt any so go figure).
The whole regen def dpf deal is a bunch of tree hugger bullshit anyway.

How many miles does it say until empty?
