What does it cost to get a cam done? If I do that should I go ahead and go to a roller set up or will I be fine with the flat tappit?

Jeremiah I think you would be better off with a roller cam then you do not have to worry about lobes going flat on break in...........

You need to step back and stop trying to be cheap on the parts that make power...... a good custom roller is in the $350-400 range and will match what you have.

But hey its your money and you apparently don't have a problem doing things more than once to try and get it right....... So good Luck.

Jeremiah,
you are doing great !!! but they are just trying to steer you in the right direction ...thats all ... you got to keep an open mind here man , some of the guys here are just calling it like it is ( no sugar coating)

why would you want to use a cam thats going to get you more out of the ball park ...... call a cam designer and let them custom grind you a cam ( Lem Evans ).... but for know keep what you got and get the tune leaned on and you will make great gains .....

this stuff shouldnt be stressfull ....have fun !!!

I would think from your two quotes, you could see how someone could get confused???? But, maybe not....

Are you certain the two used camshafts are nitrous cams? Without knowing what certerline they were ground on, it is difficult to tell what they are from the limited information you posted. How much is he asking for the used camshafts? Lifters included? Like everyone else, I think you would be money ahead to get a camshaft custom ground for your application, rather than buying a "bargain" from someone that may or may not work. But your money, your choice.......you ask for advise and then argue about it when the answer doesn't suit you............ Question

jeremiah, i know exactually what ur going through i was the same way ask for advice then everybody throws out bombs. but one thing i have learned from the guys on here their not trying to be dicks. in the end almost everyone of them have been pretty darn close to what they said. i agree nobody suger coats anything around. i have wasted thousands of dollars trying to do it the cheap way it don't work for the long haul. just set back think about it and do it right...good luck and thanks alot to all the knowledgable and helpfull guys on here...eric
