this block is rated at 1000HP. Is that underated, anyone push this block with up to 1400Hp with boost? Isnt the A460 block a better block and rated to 1500Hp? Is a siamese bore better than a non as is the eliminator? What about the eliminator billit VS the A460? Which one would u go with? Thanks

Re: eliminator sportsman block?
The Eliminator and A460 blocks are comparable, but the A460 block seems more available without a wait. The A460 block is a little less expensive also.

Engine Block Comparo
Ford Racing A460 / Eliminator Sportsman
Ford Racing A460 / Eliminator Sportsman
- Both blocks have nodular cast main caps, SVO = 4-bolt on 2, 3, & 4, and Sportsman = 4-bolt on 1-5.
- Both blocks have 2.25" standard-style cam bearings.
- Both have priority mains oiling
- SVO has siamese cylinders, the Sportsman block does not
- SVO can go to 4.600 bore, the Sportsman only to 4.500 bore.
- SVO has provision for the 18-bolt head, Sportsman block does not (only the 4 extra bolt holes on the exhaust side?)
- SVO is rated to 1500HP @ 8000 rpm, the Eliminator is rated only to 1100HP.
Re: eliminator sportsman block?
The sportsman block is called Siamese but it is the same as the ultra and premier except there are small provisions for water to come through between some of the cylinders. I think a little over .100 wide and 2 inches tall.
The bores are thick everywhere else. The small pieces are installed in the casting mold when the do the Sportsman blocks.
Mine is running over 1000 hp now, so far so good.
Maybe Jay will correct me if I am wrong.

I was speaking of the billet, premiere and ultra.Paul Kane wrote:Engine Block Comparo

Easy there, Barney, I'm not even sure why you would think I was referncing your post in the first place.
The OP's question is about the Eliminator Sportsman and he compares it to a Motorsport A460; I am simply posting a compare/contrast of the two blocks he inquried about.

Huh, bridged cylinders. Not siamesed by definition in the engine block world, but certainly noteworthy...IDT-572 wrote:The sportsman block (has)...small provisions for water to come through between some of the cylinders. I think a little over .100 wide and 2 inches tall.
Re: eliminator sportsman block?
I was just correcting myself, that's all. I realized I had posted about the Sportsman, and when you posted so detailed about the A460 I put in in quotes to clarify the correction I was making.Paul Kane wrote:Easy there, Barney, I'm not even sure why you would think I was referncing your post in the first place.

Eliminator Sportsman
The Sportsman will go 4.560. It has thrust areas pretty much the same as a Premier. Very stout block.

Re: eliminator sportsman block?
Ok, thanks, thats some better info than I could find. So it seems between the two that the A460 would be the better choice? reason for asking is I am going to buy one and transfer all my rotating assembly(572) into one of those blocks and see how much N/A power I can make with my SCJ Kaase heads with alot -o-compression. Decided to do the turbo thing down the road when extra $$ is available.

There was a 572 dyno tested here in Md at a shop I use that made 880 HP with a single Dominator. It had P-51 heads on a Premier block.

Snake broke 1000hp with his P51 deal, not your average deal, but I think if you were to talk to him about it, he'd build you one just like it. It was a single carb deal too.
