Is you Wife or GF driving your race car?
Lets see...... a typical decent built bracket engine ... Nothing fancy but good stuff 1.6 hp per CID
408 = 652.8 hp
557 = 891.2 hp
Is that answer enough? Do you think an extra 239 hp will make up for the extra 100#?
using a wallace formula
652hp @ 3000# = 9.69 @ 138
891hp @ 3100# = 8.83 @ 152
Hummmmm........

The formula demonstrated the difference in weight from going with a typical 351W based fox to a 460 based fox. assumin a 100# weight difference between the two.

That wasn't your question.......
Fact is the Typical Bracket 351 will only do it with NO2 and the BBF will do it N/A, even with the added weight.........

What can you build a real 650hp NA 408 for that can handle a shot big enough to get you to 8.99 @ 3000#?

Why would you call advice based on experience "static"?
These "not that nice" BBF people have been putting up with my dumb questions for years.
For some more anecdotal evidence, 2 of my Fox Mustangs have similarly built motors. One is a rebuilt 302, mostly stock except for a cam, intake, and mildly ported stock heads. It went 97 mph in the quarter. The other is a rebuilt 460, mostly stock except for a cam, intake, and mildly ported stock heads. It went 115 in the quarter. The money for building both motors was within a couple hundred bucks of each other. The difference is 18 mph, and 8 mpg.
I am not a SBF hater. I just ordered a 408 W rotating assembly to put in my 67 Fastback. I want to drive the car with AOD and AC and be able to hear the radio. I don't want to twist the car in half. If I wanted to do that, I would order a 545 rotating assembly.
These guys are NOT giving you "static". It is possible that you just aren't getting the answers that you want.

Yes a.250 shot.if that don't do it then ill get.a.dart.big bore block use my crank rods get new pistons then go digger 600shot plus my 250 plate.system that should get me there.
I don't think a 557 10.9 motor with p51na is going to.do it?

You mean that there are some people who will actually ask questions when they already have in their mind some preconceived answers...?
AND, when they don't get those answers, the questions get changed and things in the questions get added and subtracted which weren't a part of the original question...?
Hmmmm,
DON'T feed the trolls...!

Your trying to compair apples to oranges......... Face it you want a small block because you have a bunch of parts..... so build one !!! If your starting from scratch a Big Block is the simplest solution to big numbers from a NA application.

I've had NASTY small blocks, and once you do a big block it's not even a comparison. YOU WILL SPEND MORE $$$$ TRYING TO GO AS FAST WITH A SMALL BLOCK FACT.2fox wrote:^^^ I don't like ur profile.pic. you look like a friend of Hilters
