alittle confused ????

OK i need to know if im right or i need to worry. I got my license passes done afew weeks ago , and before my last pass i took my air cleaner off and got inline . As soon as i let off at the end the car quit , when i got on the return road i tried starting it and it made a knocking sound when it turned over . When i got home i pulled the plugs and it turnd over by hand just like anyother time. So i tried starting it and it fired right up and ran fine . SO is it because i took the air cleaner off and the air going through the hood scoop and over the short tubes on the demon carb, and flooding it out when i lifted and when i tried starting it , it had fuel in afew cylinders it couldnt burn. It happened once before and it died but it started without the knock and that was also without an air cleaner.

I was thinking that the temporary knock may have been caused by cranking some really hot combustion chambers (having just finished a WFO pass.) with an overload of fuel in the manifold.

As far as the stalling goes, it could be that some really turbulent airflow across the top of your carb caused a really crappy booster signal and a crappier mixture. I'm guessing that your air cleaner is doing a lot to straighten out the airflow into the venturis. I'd leave it on, for more than one reason.

Do you have a slosh tube on the vents?

not fair. My APD domi didn't get the ford blue goodies. all I got was pink and black. What size is your carb Jon?

That was a quickfuel 1050 I aquired, I used the APD bowls of my other 1050 for the time being.

The APD is a better setup IMO, there are subtle differences in the metering blocks and such, I wont go into details, my QF repeats awesome, but the APD is faster..............

The QF 1050 is sold, gonna turn it into a QF 1150...................

Pink is usually BLP stuff anyway................
