Too much information...

I have read for hours about ELC coolant use in a not in a early Power Stroke diesel.. I know they recommend it in a 99 and up but there is some confusing information as to what to use in the earlier models?

I use the green stuff in my 02. Same in my previous 99. It had 420000 miles on it when I sold it. It was still going strong. I use a John Deere diesel additive in mine. It has a water pump additive. I use it in my race car as well. It makes about 10 deg difference in water temp. No corrsion. I've used water wetter ect. This is the only thing I've ever used that made a difference.

I will stick with the green Fleetrite. There is so much info out on coolant for the Powerstroke. You get !0 different answers for the same question.

I ran the Shell Rotella ELC in my 7.3 and 6.4 for years before I sold both of them. Put 90K on the 6.4 and over 140K on the 7.3 with no issues. Only thing with the green is to do the test strips a few times a year. If you need to throw in the additive. No big deal.

I ran the ELC in both trucks because the radiator was getting changed and I got a good deal on the stuff from the local fleet store...
