Max HP and Lift With SCJ Heads
Please post your experience with maximum effort Super Cobra Jet heads (Kaase revised aluminum). From looking at various sites maximum Flow is around 410 @ .800 lift. I have also read that lift above .800 can create geometry issues.
The local race course has a Cheap Street class that specifies stock block with conventional heads and a 4150 carb. NA big blocks run at 3300 pounds and you can run no faster than 5.70 twice without being bumped to the 5.40 class.
Could you make 900 HP with a max effort 514 - 557 and be competitive? Please advise if this is possible with a SCJ conventional head setup.

Re: Max HP and Lift With SCJ Heads
I would use an A head if they are allowed, P51 if they aren't. 900 hp with the SCJ is probably possible, but it will definitely be a max effort deal and would be much easier with an A head. The carb will probably be a custom deal also.

Re: Max HP and Lift With SCJ Heads
My 533 CID "Fishkiller" engine made 882 Hp on the dyno several years ago, however, that was with a true 1250 QFT dominator style carb. We plan on dynoing it again with freshened up heads and a new 533 shortblock,,,,,and I intend to bust 900 Hp. I believe that if there is no CID limit, then 900 hp would be abtainable with the 4150 style carb. Probably with a 1050 cfm version. Like Lem suggested, everything needs to be "right".
Hope this helps,
Charlie

Nope I'm just fine, just a little out of it. I thought we posted reasonably similar posts mine was just in a nutshell, your fine.Lem Evans wrote:Barney wrote:I guess what I said is rubbish so I guess disregard it.

Re: Max HP and Lift With SCJ Heads
Like I believe we are all saying it can be done. It will take some planning and a little work, and there may easier ways to do it, but yes you can accomplish your goals.

Re: Max HP and Lift With SCJ Heads
I have built a 521 with CNC'd SCJ's that went about 395 intake CFM at .800" lift and a ported Weiand tunnel Ram which dyno'ed slightly over 900 horsepower.
The intake valve lift was .788", (before lash). With a 1.65/1 intake rocker arm it had .750" valve lift and lost only a few horsepower but, gained a bunch of torque. The CAM didn't need that much lift after all.

Re: Max HP and Lift With SCJ Heads
Definetly an achievable goal. 900 hp on a 557-572" high compression motor with Kaase SCj's, no problem IMO
