Finally took the plunge...
I called Kaase Racing today and ordered a pair of P-51s. Was told there is about a 10 week wait. Also stopped by the machine shop to check on my block. It's a dove-A 4 bolt. Had it cleaned, magged, & sonic checked. Seems I got a good one, it's already .030 over and he said the cyls. are 0.200 thick on the thrust side. I'm thinking with a full fill I should be able to go 4.50 bore with no problems. Things are looking up.

Re: Finally took the plunge...
Discussed the build with my engine builder and decided to only go .080 over (4.440) with a 4.3 stroke and make it a 533. With flattops @ 0 deck it should be around 13.4 compression, a custom solid roller, OTB P-51s and a Mafia intake topped off with a 1050 dominator (which I already have)I'm hoping for at least 800 hp.

I think that is a reasonable hp goal, and you will be amazed at how much scoot 800hp is

Re: Finally took the plunge...
I have been involved in three 557 P-51 engines and helped on the first one, all three were flat top, solid roller deals and all three made between 900 and 905 HP. These were with ported Victor intakes. Out of the box P-51s.
Very nice heads, Jon did a killer job on them......

Re: Finally took the plunge...
I'm going with the 4.3 stroke for 2 reasons. The first is, just in case they limit us to 540 c.i. or less ( they keep changing the rules ) and second with the 4.3 stroke I can use off the shelf pistons to help keep the cost down a little.

Re: Finally took the plunge...
You better save some money to replace driveline parts. LOL!!!!!!!!! Sounds like a fun build. Wish I could run something like that.

I'm thinking the same thing. Already have a 14 bolt rear but the rest of the driveline is gonna need some upgrading for sure.
