Re: automatic people with stall converters ?
I don't think I would be calling Summit for convertor advice. The convertor can be one of the toughest pieces of a car to get right. You need to know what your engine combination is, and then have a convertor built to work with it. There are several good companies out there, and they may each have a different idea of what you need, but call them up and discuss what you're after. With convertors you usually get what you pay for, but a $100 convertor can look just like a $1000 one!

^^^^ True statement, often a custom won't cost much more than an off the shelf unit. Get your engine dynoed get the car scaled and figure out what gearing you are going to run to get the mile per hour you plan on going (be realistic). The more info you can give them the closer it will be to right, to get optimum may take some trial and error. The right converter can be worth .300 easily, I have been there.

I don't run NOS but leave on footbrake when I stage I let it idle and nail it when the light comes on.My 60' time 1.42 leaving off idle and coming up on the converter 1.48.I am running a stock c6 with a b&m shift kit with a TCI 4000 stall.

Think of it like this. Would you look better in a suit off the rack, or a tailored suit? Sure they both may fit, but you get laid a lot more in the tailored suit.
Re: automatic people with stall converters ?
I just sold an Ultimate Street Fighter that I bought new and I would never own another one!!! $950 converter that needed $400 worth of work to get it close to right what burned my ass was seeing that they had used an OE Ford imput spline cut out of a stock converter.

Re: automatic people with stall converters ?
I wouldn't be at all suprised to see alot of OEM stuff in a convertor or used as core.
Whats important is to get the right combination for what your doing. IMO find a good reputable guy, like Lenny at Ultimate, Winters at JW, + a number of others and get one built.
Like has aleady been said a good convertor can make a turd fly..... a bad one can make superman a turd.

That would not be an Ultimate Converter Concepts product, correct? We have nothing known as a "Street Fighter""

No it was a POS TCI converter, I was really disapointed in the quality from a $900 converter. Some people have argued that I shouldn't have expected a racing converter for that price but I have seen better quality inside a $350 converter.
I have heard alot of good things about your converters, Yellowhorse (Tony) runs one and is happy with it.

No problem Eric, if you ever need any assistance , just let me know.
Re: automatic people with stall converters ?
Do you build C6 converters as well? I may be needing some assistance in the near future, but I want to get my new engine dynoed and truck scaled so I have all the info I can to get the right converter when I am ready.
