Converters Empty Converters

Post  Derek Wood March 26th 2012, 3:03 am

Hi new to the site, building a 1951 Ford 8:50 legal chassis 557in A460 heads, 15.2:1 Danny B, shaft rockers, GZ etc.C6 on a toilet with methanol. Just pulled the converter about 3 months to late to find shrapnell in the converter. Would like input on a 5500-5800 brands that work much appreciated. Cheers Derek

No doubt UCC is an awesome converter. We run them too. They always seem right. I just mentioned Edge be ause Rich is the only one of us with a C6 and he loves it. Tony runs a C4 and I'm new to the Glide world.

I've heard good stuff about Edge, I just have no experience with them.

We can do those too. FreakShow Performance. We've built them from street cars to 7 second (soon to be six second in the next few weeks) rides.

Give Josh a call 903-486-7292 anytime.

Converters Empty running out of time

Post  Derek Wood March 28th 2012, 12:35 pm

Thank you all for the input. Easy to see that UCC has a great reputation here. Our local converter manufacturer has taken up the challenge to harness this BBF complete with warranty so I will post results later. Thanks again.

I've got one of Lenny's converters and love it, and he really stands behind his product. I know that Rich likes his Edge, and Frank Merkl has several of their converters in front of transmissions that he has built. Cool

Converters Empty 51 Ford cant attach pics

Post  Derek Wood March 29th 2012, 12:45 am

Hi all, Here are some pics (tried to attach and failed) from last year, our first time out. For the record I don't own the car, I am the guy who is helping my freind Len with his bucket list ie I'm the car builder, engine builder, pit monkey etc. I do get to drive the car when he's not up to it though. I must say this ford power is pretty impressive. I come from offroad racing, mud racing then into drag racing all with BBC power. This is our first try with the BBF and I must say it pulls like crazy. Last year we hurt the old 460 block, split #7 cylinder wall on Len's last license pass, a 937@146 I think. Apperently we also destroyed the converter that pass.. Drag racing is such fun eh.This year we have a new A460 block 4.440x4.5 stroke 557ci, new aluminum rods, new Ross 15.2-1 pistons, larger roller Comp cam 806in 763exh, Danny B belt drive, new oil pan I think one of Jeff Johnsons, Titan pump, the heads are early 460 motorsports, the intake an early ford motorsports and topped off with a n 1800 cfm toilet on alky.Oh and a GZ vac pump. Any guesses as to what this baby will put out? Any input as to why I can't attach pics it is set to 0 bytes. Cheers Derek

You can't attach pics to the reply, but you can paste a link from where the pictures are hosted. Basically you'll need to upload the pictures to a photobucket account and paste the link here.
