460 Intake Question Empty 460 Intake Question

Post  njstang87 May 7th 2012, 7:18 pm

Hey guys quick question. I was going through some of my Dad's old 460 parts and found an older Edelbrock intake. It is a Torker 460. I was already planning on going with a Torker II for clearance issues in a foxbody. Has anyone ever used this intake? I am on a tight budget so if this intake is close I may just got with it. He also has an older offenhauser I could use. I believe it is a port-o-sonic. He polished the intake and ground off all of the information. If it is that intake is it better than the Torker? Will it fit under a stock mustang hood? Thank you for all you help.

This engine will be in a 1993 foxbody. 466 with ported doves. Roller rockers. Haven't decided on cam yet. This will be a street strip car.

The original Torker was about economy and low end. It is not a performance intake. The port-o-sonic is dated, but a decent performer for a street-strip application.

I never tested one, but from what i've heard the stock stuff will run right with them.

Back in the early 90's I worked part time at a marina engine shop.
We must have done 50 changes in the 3 years I was there ... just about all the 460 powered jet boats got a 280 Magnum Comp Cams and a Offy Port-O-Sonic manifold with a 780 cfm vacuum secondary carb.

In the day, it worked really well but, today there are much better combinations.

Like Randy said, they were the hot setup in the day. There are better intakes now but the Portosonic works well on Dove's and even A429's for that matter. My ole 466 in the maverick ran consistent 9's w/one. if you have it I would use it,especially if it has a Dommy base.

I was refering to the Torker, they are pretty lame, the Port-o-sonic's are OK if you have one and don't want to spend the money on a Victor.
