Valve spring
Hi all do the comp cam 677-16 valve springs work on a stock d3 head? I know the outer diameter is good but the inner is .700 I'm not sure if that's to small or not? Thanks.

None of the double or tripple springs will fit correctly onto a D3 head which hasn't had spring seat machining.

Is there a drop in spring that will handle .600 lift cam? I'm not building a drag car, it's gonna be a weekend warrior type of car.

Re: Valve spring
I'm assuming you have the heads off?
I'd just have the pads cut and put good seals on, its not a big deal and not expensive. Put the proper recommended spring for the camshaft in.

That 977 spring is a really tough 1.460" diameter spring. You will never get those pressures with a single spring.
There are quite a few single springs to handle over .600" valve lift however, no where near those pressures.

Plus if you have not had the valve guides cut for the .600 lift cam you going to have to have them cut , stock heads are only good to a .540 lift so you will have to have machine work done on them anyway.

Ok thanks for all the I go I just got out fo the 2.3 turbo ford game and am now on to 460s I figures the valve guides would have to be machined for clearance as so does the 2.3 head, I'm trying to go at this fairly cheap I don't mind spending the money but I don't wanna spend thousands on parts as I'm only looking to make about 500 hp which I think would be fairly easy.

500 horsepower will require a bit more than just a camshaft & valve spring change.
Re: Valve spring
I understan that, I'm planning on flat top pistons and decking the block and porting the heads, I figure I should be fairly close to that with about 10:1 compression and a good intake and 850 carb and headers. But I'm starting with the heads and working my way through the block.
