A good night...at the dirt track !!
Last night, was opening night for the dirt track, located next to our outlaw dragstrip..They have had some issues (imagine that) with the lights, so it had delayed them running. My partner runs in Limited Sportsman, and we are the only Ford in class. He uses a 408W that I built .
The night starts off slow, as he draws the last starting postion. There are 10 cars in his class tonight.
Things start looking up, as in the 10 lap heat race, with some good driving and a caution or 2, he finishs Third.. Works for us..
We line up for the 20 lap feature, 2nd row, inside and they take the flag... On lap 2, while trying to take the lead, he spins in turn 2...
To the back of the field we go...Time to "get up on the wheel"..
We go back to racing, and thru a combination of great driving, a few well placed cautions and some good ole Ford horsepower,we find ourselves in 2nd place, when the last caution falls with 2 laps to go.
They take the green, and it was all she wrote. The bow tie boys had nothing for us last night !!! He drives under the leader going into turn 1 and passes him like the boy is standing still !!! Takes the white flag and cruises to our first feature win for the year !!!
We love showing the Chevy troops what this Ford can do. They all comment on how it just "sounds" different from any other car in class !!

Hard to do when there are only 3 engine rules....
Iron block, Iron heads, no dry sumps
Everything else is wide open
