4.50 OHIO Crankshafts
wondering what kind of Horse power limitation this crankshaft it limited to. It's a 4340 4.50 stroke deal. wonder about building a 572 or 598 deal and I have some newer A460 heads I'd like Charlie to wave his magic wand on. And use a Bump stick that Lem whipped up.

Any of the forged cranks should be good for 1,000 HP minimum. The real question is the quality of the machine work. Have no first hand experience with Ohio Crank, but may want to do your homework on that one...

X2 on getting the crank from Adney. There is almost no difference in outside appearance between several different manufacturers cranks, but the details are what cost the extra $, and are way worth the extra $, and Adney has forgot more about cranks than most guys know.

Ace,
I have heard some bad things about Ohio Crankshafts, so let the buyer beware. Personally I own a couple of 4.5" stroke Performance Crankshafts from Adney, then a Crower billet, a couple of Scat billets and a Sonny Bryant. At this level, it's not about the cost of the crankshaft, but the quality of the part. I'd rather sleep good.

ohio crankchaft
I have used a few cranks from Ohio and the small blocks look nice and work well,we have a local builder that uses them a lot with good results. I have had my crank woes, and recently got a crank from Ohio crank (4.600) it looks good except the radius area ,I am going to have it ground to sb chevy size to fix this . I also just got a 4.750 billet from Bryant ,this is by far the best fit and finished crank . I have a billet of scat's thats cracked, and 2 scat 4.5 forgings ,also an Eagle 4.5 forging that had the ESP armor done to it , it isnt a bad piece. FWIW

Re: 4.50 OHIO Crankshafts
I tried to save a few bucks and use an Ohio Crankshaft, and while the oil clearances checked ok, when you checked the crank for being concentric it wasn't. There were high spots and low spots in the crank journals. Then you have the added cost of re-machining the crank. After all was said and done, I could have called Adney and spent a little more the 1st time, and it would have been right.
