Re: 604 CID Suggestions
Am I missing something here? I was looking at the Trickflow A460 heads and they have an advertised flow that is less then the P51. What am I missing?
Re: 604 CID Suggestions

Do not get hung up on flow numbers. The cross-section is larger on the A-heads, and the C-heads are even larger. You'll find it is in the preparation of the head, namely who is doing it, that is going to determine how the head performs. A badly prepped A-headed engine can be out-horsepowered by a well designed P51 headed engine for example.
That being said, a well designed C-headed engine will beat a well designed A-headed engine, and a well designed A-headed engine will beat a well-designed P51 engine.
Hope that helps,
Dave

The TFS A460 with the 2.350" intake valve option are capable of 430 cfm out of the box . 460-490 cfm prepared....depends on the $s spent .

Re: 604 CID Suggestions
If you were to decide to go with A460 heads, I would put a lot of thought in the valve train area. Especially the cam, valve size, and valve spring package. The TFS A460’s come with springs that have 250lb seat pressure and 800lb open. IMHO on a street engine, the springs wouldn’t last very long. The best bet would be to buy bare heads and start from scratch.
Re: 604 CID Suggestions
The down side to the bare heads would be that they do not come with a valve job or guides honed ... adding several $s to the bare cost . Maybe selling or swaping the springs would be a better option .
