Is wide band O2 sensor enough/useful for setting up N2O system?
I have NOS Cheater (plate) system running 63N/73G jets on a Ford 460. I have dedicated fuel pump for N2O set at 6psi.(deadhead).
Based on O2 sensor, at WOT I'm getting a reading of about 13:1 on the meter. I increased the Fuel jet size from instructions (63/63 to 63/73) until I got "rich" on the meter.
Is this enough to tell me I'm set up right? I don't see any issues with the plugs (maybe it's too early to tell).
I also retard ignition 4 dgrees on spray.
Feels strong. I don't have access to dyno or strip for testing/setup.

wow that has to be fat as hell, I'd think it would run stonger w a 73n 63f......................the plugs will tell the tale, but street driving is gonna make um look fat anyways.
What fuel press?
What fuel press?

with that cheater kit ....try 63n and 53 fuel , 5.5 psi , make a couple of 1/8 blasts and ck the plugs

I think I go the number backwards - I was going from memory. I'm running 6 psi to plate.

Is using the wide-band O2 sensor a reliable way to set N2O/Fuel jets? Do I want 12.5 to 13.0 air/fuel ratio on spray (if everything is correct) or is reading the plugs the safest/best way to tell?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Use the plugs.... A o2 will only tell part of the story.

i run a 65n 52f 5.5psi fp 26* total timing i take a little more timing out bc of my cast piston

The most accurate way it to read a combination of the plugs and the time slip..
A/F meters don't know anything about what's going on IN the ENGINE. They only know what they see OUTSIDE in the EXHAUST.
Taking a rich tune and adding timing to burn the fuel will trick and A/F metter into somewhat reading correctly in many cases. On the other side of the coin, a lean engine that is undertimed can look OK as well..
Bottom line an A/F cannot tell the difference between lean/rich and overtimed/undertimed.
Also, most only have one in a single pipe or one in the collector "averaging" four cylinders ?? Just a lil food for thought... Thanks, SJ
