I need source for 390 flywheel and clutch for 77 460 swap
After reading 10,000 threads for 2 months I am just confused about how to proceed with my neutral balanced 460 install. I cannot afford a $650 swap kit. It seems clear that A 390 flywheel is the way to go to have no spacer or fitting issues. I also hear that I should use a 390 HD 11" clutch and it all just works and is cheap. I have read several people claiming they bought everything for under $250 from Advance or Autozone too
Here is the problem.
1. I need PART NUMBERS OF PROVEN COMBINATIONS. if I call the stores they dont know what I want and claim not to have it.
2. I need PART NUMBERS OF PROVEN COMBINATIONS. i hear about needing diaphragm clutches, "long style" clutches, 11" clutches, 11.5" inch clutches. This info all tends to conflicts with others advice. AND the its all meaningless to the guy at the part store.
3. I need PART NUMBERS OF PROVEN COMBINATIONS. I hear about needing a 390 176 tooth flywheel (which seems impossible to find) then I read that someone did it with a 184 tooth... Either way, I have failed to find a $90 one that I know fits like a lot of the posters.
4. I need PART NUMBERS OF PROVEN COMBINATIONS. What is the deal with the pilot bearing??? I dont want to machine crap. I hear you must OR to use a brass 302 yadayada
I am so frustrated over this install I feel like selling it all
