Super Cobra Jet Heads
I have the opportunity to pick up a set of Aluminum SCJ heads. They have Ferrea valves 2.250/1.860 and he thinks they are titanium. They come complete with 1.73 scorpion rockers and jomar stud girdles. They have been ported a little. They flow 345 intake and 245 exhaust. He said they were also cleaned up around the combustion chambers.
He only ran these for a summer just on the weekends with no trips to the drag strip.
First question is what is a fair price for this hardware?
Second I believe my pistons are flat tops. So I know I would have to have reliefs cut into them. I looked at the reincarnation website and it says compression of 11 to 1. I want this to be a pump gas motor. So will this be acheivable or not?
Thank you

Are you sure it's not a 1.76" ehx. valve?

Not sure Lem. This is all from his memory. I thought that sounded off...

Re: Super Cobra Jet Heads
If they are Ferrea valves a 1.800" is possible for the exhausts.
As for worth ... less than the price of new ones.

Re: Super Cobra Jet Heads
I'd run away from that deal, fast! "He thinks they are titanium" is just a sales pitch. They either are or they aren't. If the valves were new titanium valves, then they alone cost $2,000 for a set of 16. So, ignore that part about titanium valves. Also, you better measure the valve diameters accurately with dial calipers before you even think about paying any money. SCJ heads come from the factory with 2.200" valves, not 2.250".

Does Ferrea even make a Ti valve?

Yes, $1500 is a good deal for those heads with stainless steel valves, but you never said how much in the beginning. For $1500 they sure as heck aren't titanium valves. Also, unless he can give you a flow sheet with the porters name and etc.,,,,I wouldn't put too much faith in those flow numbers.

Re: Super Cobra Jet Heads
Thanks Charlie. He does have the flow sheet. Steve Schmidt Racing here in Indy did them.
