what would be the hp difference ,I have super cobra jet kaase heads on a 521. I need to change my cam and piston anyway I go because the ones in my motor are low compression 9.6..I think 14.5 compression more cam ,new 100 longer valves so I can go up on cam lift, Should net 100 more hp , current cam is comp 726 lift 268 276 dur. Or go with tfs A head......Car runs 8.93 - 152 1/4 5.78 122 1.8 at bristol 400 shot

on equal engine's the A460 stuff will make 100 more HP +/-, The boss stuff is similar.

That engine size is right at the point where ported SCJ's run out and the A460 heads come on so, more RPM is needed to make more power and a lighter valve train, (at least on the intake side), may be necessary with the A460's ... done right, they will make considerably more horsepower with about the same torque.

thanks for the info So my scj kaase heads are about done? I'm running 9.90's at Bristol which would be 8.60's anywhere else, Not counting Denver. I need 4 more tenth's. How much would compression help? I have 9.6 now

521 ci diamond -36cc pistons, scat 4.300 stroker from aw brown. comp cam 726 lift 268 276 108 center 108 lobe Kaase cobra jet smoothed out and gasket ported, tci c6 4500 converter by ultimate, NX plate. For sale make offer

Get it up to 13-14:1 and get a proper no2 cam it will be worth a bunch of power.

What makes that track so bad?  1.3 seconds?  Really?  EDIT--oh nevermind, I see in other posts your running 8.90s.

-3.6cc maybe?   I think like already said you bump up the compression to at least 13 to 1, go with a more aggressive cam, that will get you the 4/10ths I would think. But, if its in the budget, and you are changing pistons anyway, might as well step up to an A460 head. I had a buddy of mine build a very similar motor to what I did, but he used an A460 head and I used the P51. I have more compression, (16:1 vs 14:1) but he has more cubes (572 vs 598) but he made about 80 more horsepower.

Correction 9.90's on motor 8.90's NX nos 1.278 sixty 5.71 122 1/8 the air is bad here " 3900" my 521 was intended for a 1953 for f-100 street only. No p51 are not junk, he is full of his self . Ben reading about your car for 2 years now, great car.

Lots of factors goin on here but after having p51s and now aheads I think the answer is clear. Just make the jump to aheads now....I guarantee you won't regret it.

I wish id just bought them to begin w actually....(so will fabio when he finally sees the light)

I'm thinking new A360 which needs 4.600 bore so stock block should no go that big.

what's not junk? trick flow has problems to, do you want to talk about rocker studs breaking the head? Drop the compression to 9.6 with small bore and use pump gas and see which is junk

It's an inside joke. The guy that said they're junk runs them and likes them. He was being sarcastic. Lot of that in here.

They're good heads but I think everyone is in concurrence if you need new pistons anyway, go with the a460.
