Re: What would it take??
some of you guys know i have been chaseing the dream of running in some of the heads up stuff for a while now.i have tore up 2 motors this year and spent some dollars on the chassie to get ready for SGMP sept 28/29/30.
we need a good partner in crime chris ellington and skinny man (matt mungal) has split up.so thats were i come in chris and i have partnered up to see if we can get the bbf i have on the map.
the best advice i can give a newbie with a bbf wanting to do the 275 heads up stuff is 2 things.go to BES for a NOS motor or to buy the topend and put it on your motor.next is get the best chassie guy you can afford or buy a proven roller for around 50,000 :roll:their is alot of other factors that goes with these 2 basic things

Oakley/I-S powered here , lots of great minds will be in this build , electronics will play a very important part also . Steve will be doing some r and d on the new rules and will debut on this car

I think Blake pointed out the most overlooked thing..... Weight where it is needed. Build the car as light as it can be and add ballast where it is needed... In the tail !

Re: What would it take??
It's not quite that simple. Then it would just be on the bumper and keep the nose in the air on the big end.jbozzelle wrote:I think Blake pointed out the most overlooked thing..... Weight where it is needed. Build the car as light as it can be and add ballast where it is needed... In the tail !
Re: What would it take??
True. I think Blake's car proves the arguement that moving weight to the rear would allow it to be glued to the track better. If that happens you can turn the wick up.
Most people don't pay any attention to the chassis or weight bias. Just keep throwing money at the engine program and never move in the right direction. My motto is tweak the entire combo and then tweak some more before you throw cash under the hood...

C's, Thors and Profilers are not X275 legal FYI. Although I think you are saying that. Anyway....
I'm building a Max-Effort Eliminator headed BB to run and be competitve in X275 trim. It'll take every bit of my engine builders know how and will involve plenty of conversation. MAy not be out this year since I just moved and bought a house but it will happen. Those who know me know that I won't do it unless I'm competitive. Fact is that Steve Jackson, Bruder, Troy Perez Sr, etc don't have anything that I don't have or can get. Point is even a dumb ass like me can get it done with the right combo of things
damn it sounds like I wrote this!!! yellowhorse7 you are the man...

They need to outlaw all electronics in these classes..... Its come down to tapping a keyboard or the computer doing the work...... Total BS IMO.

Re: What would it take??
no teens tonight, I knew better than to go but did anyway. cold front came in about the time i hit the road, fought 50 mph gusts on the way there. They more or less gave us a raincheck, but said we could make time runs......car spun, shaked, made a drift toward the wall and i lifted, still went a 1.26, 5.48 @ 111. The blower car that ran in my lane right after me got it in the wall hard and parts went flying and damn near took out my pit crew on the way to get me.............loaded it up and said f it lol. you cant run avrace in 40-50 mph crosswinds.... as we were pulling out the rains came.
I did get to test out my redneck crankcase vacuum datalogger, I used a 1 bar map sensor on the 7531 and hooked it to the crankcase, on the 2 step its 6" and makes a nice smooth drop to 13" towards the end of the run, old wore out 3 vane moroso pump still works damn good..........
