Big Announcement Today

I've been to several meetings in the last year and heard the discussions first hand . Today the official news release happened:

Its nice going to edmonton or the hat but it will be great to have something local again. I hope that it gets a good person to operate it and keep it in peoples minds so it is always being used. JPM

How come Race City closed down?

Some one in the city planning department decided that some of the track area was needed for a waste water runoff pond so they squeezed untill the owner gave up the lease early. to bad but hope this ends up better

Well hopefully it will work out for the best. I haven't been to Race City in probably 15 years.

We've got a bunch of clowns in city hall who are all about "green" everything. They had no foresight or saw no need for motorsports.
There were solutions posed that would incorporate the ponds in a re-designed road course but city hall would not entertain them.
The lease holder was partly at fault as well. He ran the track for 15 years and milked every dime out of it. There were never any repairs done
and the track was in poor condition, it would barely hold 8 second cars. He never advertised either.
The faster cars would not come so spectators stayed away as well...it was a double edged spiral.
