Of all the vehicles i've worked on here at the shop, the Jeep line are the biggest pos's by far. I like scrapping them though,i feel like i'm saving someone's life.

Crazy Swedes. The tires blowing is kinda disturbing, but come on now, the thing is a big SUV. Not a wagon like the Volvo they compared it to.

Re: jeep grand cherokee safety ????
that test was fixed...i mean come on, those tires on the jeep had to be 1 ply Pep Boy tires....grossly underinflated....they wanted the Jeep to fail

I've got a very good friend who bought a new one about three months ago, she loves it. Zero issues of any kind, currently on a trip to Montana with it, says it's doing a great job in the mountainous terrain.

I really like renting those so that is pretty scary. Of course my Explorer has never flipped over due to the tires either....

The only problem with a Jeep all lies between the front bumper and the back bumper. everything else is fine....Jeep made a mighty fine killing machine there...

My girl friend bought one to run on her mail route.....It wasn't all it was cracked up to be She couldn't sell it fast enough to suit her or me!!She's got a Ford Escape she has ran on it for years,She's very glad she didn't trade it in on the Jeep....The old Escape is still "Haulin the mail"

In Spanish, the "J" has an "H" sound. Now pronounce the name with a Spanish accent.

Though it was not the new style Grand Cherokee, my '97 had 308K miles on it when I sold it. The woman who bought it from me is still driving it. I never had to do anything other than basic maintenance on it. A couple water pumps, one alternator, belt, radiator, and so on. I have an '04 now that has been real good to me. Not sure where the bad rap comes from, unless it applies to the newer ones.

Clearly, on this forum, most people think if it isn't a Ford product, then it's junk. I just don't happen to be one of them. JMHO...not trying to start a fight.

My wife had a 98 she bought new just out of college, never had a problem with it, I don't understand why it's hard to fathom a suv doesn't handle like a sports car, I don't need a bunch of tests to tell me that. If I tried to slalom my Excursion I'm sure I could get it to flip without much effort.Nevs wrote:Mustang-junky wrote:Though it was not the new style Grand Cherokee, my '97 had 308K miles on it when I sold it. Exactly my point and well put. I won't be road racing my F-150 anytime soon either!

If you worked on community vehicles all the time you would know what guy's like me and Erv are saying. In the last 15 or so years i've done the basic's on all of them. The Chevy line is really not that bad imo,and the Fords are good also, but the Chrysler products are made from the cheapest, and flemsley/weakest parts. I have never personally owned one, but after doing service on other peoples,I don't ever want to either. just knowing

Re: jeep grand cherokee safety ????
I do wrench for a living, and thats all Ive ever done too.... pretty familar with all 3, and all 3 have their strong points as well as weak....to say Jeep parts are cheap is just wierd....when I service these vehicles and purchase parts for them, I dont see what your talking about at all....all 3 are about the same as far as quality and fit and finish....I will say one thing, Jeep products have the best resale of all of them, there are much more sought after than the others by far, Jeep people are very loyal to the brand (not that this means anything) and i wish I had a ton of them with lots of miles to sell to parents for there kids to drive for their first car........or maybe its just a NY thing
