Comp lifters
Look what I found today. Funny thing is, there are 17 needle bearings that make up a comp roller lifter. Not ONE inside the engine. Hmmmmm.... Guess that's why you shouldn't buy used engines!

Re: Comp lifters
No sir, the worst part is the bouncing around of the roller tip scored the cylinder walls up pretty deep. I think the block is trash.

Most likely in the oil filter.
Re: Comp lifters
I found a roller lifter needle bearing stuck in the base oil pump gears in a 6.0 yesterday........ I bet it costs more to fix........

Re: Comp lifters
Lem, I hope you are right (And I need parts by the way, call you Monday), the guy I bought the engine from seems like a truely good guy. The problem was when I bought the engine from him, I pulled the pan and there was a needle bearing on the pick up. He had an issue with some previous roller rockers that spit out needle bearings, had Jet Boat Bob go through it and freshen. He said it must have been a bearing that wasn't caught in the clean up hidden some where which made sense but when this happened I became very suspcious. But if you are telling me that all those needle bearings can be chewed up into small particles, that makes me feel much better and feel bad about my assumptions.

These lifters were never exposed to a large roller cam.
