I have a Suprwinch S3000 on mine and it is plenty strong enough I have pulled a 6000 pound Yukon up on it with a doubler block. It just about did it without doubling it.

Re: Trailer Winch
Got a 12K # on mine. If I bust another rear,I can drag the bitch in all locked up. It's from Harbor freight, and I dragged 100+ cars w/it last year and it's still goin strong. Less than $400.Can't beat it.

That is a bang for the buck winner for sure. My racing buddy has one on his trailer, and it is one mean dude for sure, and keeps on going. He does some scrapping on the side and uses the snot out of it all the time.

Re: Trailer Winch
So if I get a winch with a 3,500 pull rating will that get my 2,500 car up in the 28 ft trailer or do I need to go bigger? Thanks Randy

Re: Trailer Winch
It should work fine. And if you use a block w/it,it will pull a whole lot more. Those blocks make a amazing difference.

A 3500lb winch should be able to lift a 2500lb car completely off the ground if needed. If you use a doubler block I would think the motor would last twice as long because of less stress. I occasionally haul cars for repair shops and friends and I have the S3000 with a 1000amp deep cycle marine battery which I think is an absolute must for a winch.

Re: Trailer Winch
Go min 8000 that way you will know it will work those cheapo little 2500 3500 don't last so long, I have a 8000 on my trailer nad a 12000 in reserve, but note they are not elCheapos. and on another note order your winch with extra long control cord, I am checking to see if Ramsy makes a 30 ft lead....

Re: Trailer Winch
Thanks guys but one more question. Where I need to mount the winch on the floor I will not hit any of the frame on the trailer floor. Do I need to weld in an extra piece of angle iron or can I just use a larger piece of flat steel and bolt it to the bottom?

Re: Trailer Winch
I would add some angle or channel iron to the frame to mount it too.

Re: Trailer Winch
Yep that is what I was thinking. Why is it all the welding I do has got to be on my back...and half the time in the dirt???

Re: Trailer Winch
Just bought a Superwinch X9 (S9000 series), yet to be tested but the specs read as though it is more winch than I may need.valleydawg wrote:What size winch are ya'll using in your trailer now? Thanks
