Re: Trailer Winch
I've got a Superwinch S4000 in my trailer. Mounted under the cabinets with an oval hole in the toe board for the cable. Winch stays out of sight and out of the way. Works great. Best thing I did for mine was buying a wireless remote. It uses a key fob with in/out buttons. Much easier than a cable remote for a one man operation. With a 28' trailer plus a 7' ramp door the 25' wire remote cable just wasn't long enough. Just hit the button with one hand and steer the car with the other.
Mine is mounted with the bolts going through the floor and through a 3/16" X 12 X 10 steel plate on the underside. I cut the plate so it just fits between the floor joists. The plate and the winch sandwich the 3/4 plywood floor. I thought about welding in some bracing until I realized that the winch itself only comes with 2 bolt holes to mount it. 3/8 bolts are all that hold it down. Figured they would break before it could pull that plate through the floor. 7 years with the winch so far it's held fine mounted like that.

The wireless remote I bet is nice. My control cable is not long enough when I am by myself.
