The initial timing was at 50 unless the light was wrong and put it at 18 it spit back, wouldnt even crank then put it at 30 and it cranked easier than the 50. What's going on here? Thanks for any info.

What Distributor? Is it Locked Out?

Have you verified the timing mark's are correct?

Is the Distributor Installed Correctly?

MSD and the number one on the cap is at like 9 or 10 o'clock. And it's not locked out and still has stock springs.
The piston at top dead center matched up with the pointer and the zero on the balancer.
It's a fluidamper.

If its a race car... Lock it out.

and start with 32 Degrees (Total) and see how it runs.

This is a motor that belongs to a fellow i know. I kinda stepped in on what somebody has already been working on. And is there any instructions on how to lock out a msd dist.
