Rear shock question Empty Rear shock question

Post  bb429power September 12th 2012, 12:16 pm

So I'm trying to decide which would be better to run in the back. My f100 will have 3 way adjustables set at 90/10 in the front and caltracs in the back.

Now that you know that info, here's my question. For the rear shocks would I be better off running some 9 way adjustable shocks or some air shocks that I can adjust the pressure in? What would be better for tuning the suspension? Looking forward to any input that is given Smile

the 9 way shock I would NOT use the air shocks they don't like the drag strip I tried them on my 69 mustang never could get them aired right they made my car wheel hop bad took them off and made some homemade coil over shocks for it and stopped the wheel hop

It's probably been at least 30 years since I last messed with air shocks. But if I remember correctly while they can (much like air bags) be used to adjust side-to-side preload numbers by changing air pressure, changing the air pressure doesn't change the valving/dampening of the shocks.

Get real drag shocks that at the very least have a bunch of extension valving/dampening adjustability. But if the budget allows it, get shocks with both extension & compression valving adjustability.
