Default Need help from Ford Techs
Need Help with electrical problem.

I have a 2001 Ford Expedition, 4.6, 2WD

The parking lights stay on when you turn the lights off sometimes, and drains the battery. I disconnected the light switch, and still on. When I pull the #6 fuse in the power dist. box under the hood, they go out. The dash lights stay on also, except when I disconnected the light switch plugs. Does not happen all the time.. It started when I pulled the #8 fuse that controls the power door locks. They were acting up by constantly going up and down, nonstop, so I pulled the fuse. Don't know if it's related to the parking lights. Hate to go to dealer yet, as I see big financial abuse coming. HELP!!

need to hook up a good scanner and retrive all codes in all systems . there maybe a code in the gem module that will lead in the direction of needed repair . also need to know if it has aftermarket goodies added to it as Bruno stated .

Aftermarket alarm(s) and or auto start accessories, typiclly cause the GEM to go nuts.

Sounds like its going to be a visit to ford for a GEM and a flash.

The Pegasys scanners can get in and cycle through the complete GEM programing. Cant reflash unless shop/person has paid the big bucks, but someone with a pegasys can at least verify failure.

In had the same issue with my 2003 Crown Vic. It was the lighting control Module. It controls every light in the vehicle. Its located on top of the steering column.

turbos, egr valves, exh valves, def pumps/level/temp sensors. EGT sensors still have a huge fail rate and leave the truck useless.

whoever designed and located the pri and sec radiator draincocks is a cock.

I'll gladly work on a 6.4 anyday over one of these.

sorry again for the threadjack lol.
