External Balance Motor
Will an ext. balance engine make for a good performance engine(pulling truck). I found a Dove block without a crank and ordered a crank for it and got an ext. balance crank by mistake. I didn't find out until my engine builder called and asked for the counter weight. By this time I knew I wouldn't be able to send the crank back. We went ahead and finished putting the lower end together. I'm not real sure I will be able to get a pulling clutch for the Flywheel.

Re: External Balance Motor
My motor is externally balanced and haven't had a problem with it. I've been running the same rotating assembly since 2004 turning 7-8,000. I use a Mcleod flywheel that has a bolt on counterweight.
