I love those A10s, there is just something comforting about having a plane built like a tank with a HUGE gatlin gun under your feet.

For us now, it's love/hate - we went from the attack firepower of the Hog, to the raw power of the F-15C/D...
Man, it's cool to stand 20 feet from 24,000lbs of thrust

I bet that is amazing. I was at an air show quite a few years ago in London Ontario and they had a bunch of F-15's there, it was some anniversary for them. What a show.
Thank you for your service BTW!!

Sounds sweet Doug..
Doug my rear bars of my S&W cage go all the way to the rear. There have been a few that stated that wasn't necssary. I've seen what I feel would be a better design then what I have. The bars that goes back is actually a hoop. It curves around just after the axle. I have a picture somewhere..

I remember reading that the rear bars are better off located on top of your coil-over mounts. The rear of the frame just holds the bumper/box on anyway.....
I guess everyone has a prefered way. Whats that they say about a-holes and opinions???

Re: 1BAD521 take a look
With any of the various designs of the more modern "wrap around" bar design/layout (I think most credited to Don Ness around the late 70's early 80's) where a bar loops from the main hoop (about the shoulder height area) up over the tubs, & back down to the main hoop again, the rear coil over shock top mount is effectively the end of the actual "important" chassis structure.
With this setup the rest of the "not as important" tubing that runs from the top shock mount area back to the rear bumper can be a lot smaller in both O.D. & wall thickness. How small the tubing in this area can be really depends on the type of car & how fast it will be going. So probably 90% of the time the size of the bars in this area is your choice with this layout (except SFI 25.5 cars.....depending on the inspector).
A full chassis car that is used only as a slower bracket car that doesn't see the constant loading of a blossoming 'chute yanking on the back bumper crossmember could effectively get away with using only 1" OD tubing for the lower & 7/8" OD for the upper tubing sections that make up this chassis section. Without the force of a 'chute tugging on this part of chassis, all it's really subjected to is the weight of the rear body, & the weight of the battery(s).
Add one parachute to the picture & the minimum OD's really need to be bumped up a little (as well as diagonals added) because of the open 'chute loading to the structure back there. Add a second 'chute & the OD's really need to be increased again. Add a dragster style wing & mounting struts to the car back there & the minimum OD's really should increase once again.
