Pushrod to guide plate clearance
pushrod to guide plate clearance . whats standard minium ? maxium ? 7/16 tapered pushrod . P51 heads P51 guide plates .

Well you better check, and cycle the engine all the way through full lift a few times by hand,,, because those guide plates are normally 3/8",,,,,,and it all depends on how far down the taper is.
Secondly, let me warn you that those 7/16" pushrods will most likely be rubbing the pushrod holes in the P-51 heads. The location will be at the bottom of the holes in the head,,,and you will need to grind for some more clearance to elongate the holes inward towards each other. In other words the intake pushrod hole needs more clearance towards the exhaust pushrod of that particular cylinder, and then vice-versa.

Don't run the tappered pushrods on a guide plate.......straight only with a plate.

wished I'd have known that before hand . pushrods not returnable . thats an expensive oops ! now got to reevalute .
