Welding gases
Who knows what in the wide world of sports has happened to cause the price of welding gases to nearly triple??? Earlier this year, I paid about 27 bucks to exchange a cylinder of Argon/Co2 mix for my MIG. Today, I went back to the same AirGas shop and the tab was over $65. What the #%&* ?? The counter guy said all his customers are squawking...I'm not surprised.

I've been paying $60+ for over a year now. Gotta have it though.

Where do you get your stuff, Rick? This change occurred just recently. If this is just an AirGas deal, I'll go a LONG WAY to get my stuff from somebody else.

Thanks, cool40. I'm in a very small town, so there's only AirGas. I'll beat up the AirGas guys...if they won't bend, I"ll go a LONG WAY to use somebody else.
I understand that prices may skyrocket with supply problems, but I don't like being screwed "just because they can".
Rick, it sounds like you might shop a little, too. maybe your 2 shops are just following each other's lead.

Re: Welding gases
Thanks a bunch, guys. I'm gonna research this deal. I understand an occasional price increase, but to go from $27 to $65 in one swap really jerks my bobber.

Re: Welding gases
I go through Welder's Supply locally (cheapest place around) and a 100cuf tank went up $4 about six months ago, if you aren't welding body panels go with straight CO2. Rich turned me onto this about a month ago and the Welder's Supply swapped me tanks straight across refill is $13 compared to $32 and supposed to last 3 times as long on a tank. Supposedly it spatters more but haven't noticed a difference on my setup.
