#1 cylinder no oil 351?

I have a friend having issues with his #1 cylinder not getting oil to the rocker arms. It has chewed up a couple sets so far. What would be a good place to look for the problem?

sounds like the passage to the lifters on number 1 is stopped up or 2 flat lifters

Check for trash/sludge plugging the pushrods...easy first step.

X2,yes check the pr too see if it is damaged and has closed off hole.

Is oil pressure reading a bit low?
Has the engine recently been assembled?
Has the problem existed since rebuilt?

Is the oil galley plug (lifter galley) in the timing chain area loose or out?
Is the lifter correct?

The lifters on the #1 cylinder are almost the FIRST place in the engine to get oil, (right after the number 1 cam bearing and about the same time as the number 1 main bearing). So, if you have oil at other places then it is restricted somewhere between the lifter oil hole entry and the rocker arm.
