460ford.com
I remember about a year ago the owner of 460ford.com was whinning about the cost of the site and members begged him to let them help out. He refused any help. And then maybe a few months later was demanding money. I thought that was kind of strange. So soon after members had been wanting to give him money. It was a mandatory fee if you wanted any privalages like posting pictures. I would have thought maybe at first he would have asked for donations. I'm also thinking he had some other plans. I havn't been on the site since it was changed 6 months ago.

That's strange.
I never paid any fees or contributed any money to the forum and was able to post pics with no problems or requests for money.

I have always been able to post pictures over there freely? I am unaware of him ever demanding money.

Re: 460ford.com
Guys, let's be careful about rewriting history here.
Chilly never demanded money. I know for a fact he worked to prevent the forum from becoming a pay site for a number of years.
Also, when he did finally agree that donations would benefit the forum, he made them strictly voluntary, and I immideately took advantage of that and chose to donate.
Looking at the memberlist, there were not many guys (fewer than 50 IIRC) that chose to donate that 15 bucks, so do the math....not much $$$ came rolling his way from that.
Chilly has done a great service to the 460, Ford, and us by running that forum for all those years, and let's not forget that.
Chilly's OK in my book, even though he thinks I'm an "elitist".

Re: 460ford.com
If it wasnt for chilly, this group would have never happened...all the way back to network 54. If selling the site kept a roof over is families head or put food on the table, it's cool by me. it's all good as long as this family sticks together. Hate to see everyone go of to different sites, hopefully everyone will go to the same place...
Re: 460ford.com
WE just need to keep having the bash, keep in touch with the members, hopefully everything will fall into place.

Re: 460ford.com
Chilly was great! The site wouldn't have become what it has without him, but to sell it the way he did wasn't right. Your right he owned it and had the right to sell it, it's just too bad it was kept secret and we weren't told until after the site changed hands. If nothing else Jones should have been given a chance to match their offer. This deal just smells bad!

I'm sure Chilly had good reason to sell the site the way he did. Maybe he didn't have time to jack around. Maybe in time it will all come out.

Re: 460ford.com
I'd like to ad.. Hope it's OK.
There was a 429 forum long before the 460 deal. Scott J was one of the founding members. I think there were 10 members at the time and you had to wait a week to get an answer to your post. At the time the offset crank 514 wanna be was in the making. Chilly was running the forum off his home computer.
I say High Five "Chris" aka Chilly for the journey..

Re: 460ford.com
Chilly did what he felt was right for him and his family. If the deal went down as I figure, Autoforums came in made an offer he couldn't refuse, and told him to take it or leave it right now, and he took the offer. I imagine that he knew that an offer would come along sooner or later and when it did he took advantage of it. I have told some of the guys there that I won't post tech stuff for public consumption there any more. I will post in the garage and send PM's to guys I know who are looking for info. Other than that, if I post up tech info it will be here. I am not going to let the "Man" as Freelander puts it, make a buck off of me.

Re: 460ford.com
I think that deal was in the making for quite a while..If not why wasn't Chilly trying to keep some of the political crap off there. He didn't give a shit who was leaving there because of it. The board had been going down hill big time for a few months, and he was never on it much.I think you'll see some changes in the near future costing somebody some money ?? Mostly the users, only time will tell
